Each individual adult participant (19+ eligible) must create a profile on our web site and electronically sign the roster/waiver form in order to be eligible for participation in any Cities Sports Connection – CSCSPORTS.com league/event/tournament or other associated activity.  Please be aware that there are inherent risks to participating in any athletic activity. CSC does not provide insurance for the participants of our leagues. Each player as a result of participation in the leagues assumes all liability and risk of injury. It is strongly recommended that each player obtain medical and liability insurance prior to participating in any athletic or league activity.

All TEAM ROSTERS are deemed final at the end of regular season play. PLAYERS must participate in THREE (3) OR MORE MATCHES/GAMES during the regular season in order to be CONFIRMED on the team roster. ONLY CONFIRMED TEAM ROSTER PLAYERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY DURING THE POST-SEASON SCHEDULE.

As a rule, each participant is allowed to be on one team roster per league/level/night. We are happy to allow people to play on more than one team/night if facility space allows and if you inform CSC prior to the start of the league season. Any player not confirmed on a team roster is not eligible to play on that team during the post-season. Any player who is confirmed on multiple rosters during the regular season MUST choose only one team to play on following the initial round of post-season play.

Substitutes that have played with your team during the season are not allowed to participate in the playoffs in any of our CSC leagues (it’s a basic fairness issue for all of the other teams in your league). The Honor Code is always in effect here as well. For any exceptions, please contact CSC Sports.

BASIC RULES:

+ We generally follow USA Pickleball rules, with a few minor exceptions.
+ All Pickleball games will be played on Pickleball courts or on courts with the same dimensions as those found on pickleball courts.
+ CSC Pickleball is COED:open 2’s… played as doubles (two players per team on court, 1W+1M in general, but 2W or 2M is allowed.  Skill level/division is the most important balance in Pickleball after all… 🙂
+ Unlimited substitutions are allowed between teammates during a match.

THE SERVE:

+ The server’s arm must be moving in an upward arc when the ball is struck.
+ Paddle contact with the ball must not be made above the waist level.
+ The head of the paddle must not be above the highest part of the wrist at contact.
+ At the time the ball is struck, the server’s feet may not touch the court or outside the imaginary extension of the sideline or centerline and at least one foot must be behind the baseline on the playing surface or the ground behind the baseline.
+ The serve is made diagonally crosscourt and must land within the confines of the opposite diagonal court.
+ Only one serve attempt is allowed per server.
+ Let serves are allowed and are in play

SCORING:

+ Each CSC league MATCH consists of THREE GAMES, each game counting equally toward your team’s league record.
+ Games are played to 25 points, win by 2 (cap at 27).  Using the Rally Scoring method, points are scored on every rally.  (Third game may be shortened if time restrictions)
+ Determine which team will serve, receive, pick the end of the court, or defer using any fair method (e.g., pick a 1 or 2, coin flip, rock-paper-scissors, etc.).
+ Each partner on a team determines which side of the pickleball court (the left side or the right side) to start on at the beginning of the match.
+ The team that serves first will start the game. The player on the right-hand side of the court will serve first (serving crosscourt).
+ If the serving team wins the rally, then they will win a point and continue to serve.
+ With each service point won, the partners rotate to the alternate court position.
+ If the serving team loses the rally, then the receiving team will win a point and the receiving team will win the serve. To note, there is no second server (so the score will only be two numbers—the serving team score and the receiving team score—and there will be no third number for the server number).
+ Which player will serve on a team is determined by the score of the serving team. If the score is even, then the player on the right-hand side of the court will serve. If the score is odd, then the player on the left-hand side of the court will serve. So, for example, if the score is 0-0, and the receiving team wins the rally, then the receiving team will win a point and the right to serve. The score will now be 1-0, so the player on the left-side of the receiving team will serve next.
+ If you have extra time after completing your three games, you are welcome to keep playing on your court until your allotted match time has finished!!

TWO-BOUNCE RULE:

+ When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning, and then the serving team must let it bounce before returning, thus two bounces.
+ After the ball has bounced once in each team’s court, both teams may either volley the ball (hit the ball before it bounces) or play it off a bounce (ground stroke).
+ The two-bounce rule eliminates the serve and volley advantage and extends rallies.

NON-VOLLEY ZONE:

+ The non-volley zone (The Kitchen) is the court area within 7 feet on both sides of the net.
+ Volleying is prohibited in The Kitchen. This rule prevents players from executing smashes from a position within The Kitchen.
+ It is a fault if, when volleying a ball, the player steps in The Kitchen, including the line and/or when the player’s momentum causes them or anything they are wearing or carrying to touch The Kitchen, including the associated lines.
+ It is a fault if, after volleying, a player is carried by momentum into or touches The Kitchen, even if the volleyed ball is declared dead before this happens.
+ A player may legally be in The Kitchen any time other than when volleying a ball.

LINE CALLS:

+ A ball contacting any part of any line, except The Kitchen line on a serve, is considered in.
+ A serve contacting The Kitchen line is short and considered a fault.

FAULTS:

+ A fault is any action that stops play because of a rule violation.
+ A fault by the receiving team results in a point for the serving team.
+ A fault by the serving team results in the server’s loss of serve & side out.
+ A point is scored on all faults.  (As we utilize the Rally Scoring method)

Please report all injuries to the CSC representative on-site. Basic first aid supplies are available.

Thanks again for playing with CSC Sports… Take care & Have Fun Out There!  🙂
